This meeting—hosted by the White House Rural Council, in partnership with GIH, the National Rural Health Association, and the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy—was part of ongoing efforts of the council to coordinate programs across and outside government to encourage collaboration and partnerships designed to promote economic prosperity and quality of life in rural communities nationwide.
At this meeting, foundation staff, federal partners, and rural health researchers came together for a series of conversations devoted to mutual learning and collaboration about key rural health issues. Cabinet-level officials involved in the work of the White House Rural Council, as well as program area experts, were invited to engage in discussion and hear about innovative rural health projects supported through philanthropy and potential areas for public-private collaboration. For more details, a draft meeting agenda and the Opportunities for Collaboration in Rural Health Care fact sheet are available.
