Bridging Health Equity in Indian Country: Navigating the Public Health Crisis
November 8, 2024 2:00 pm Eastern
Cosponsored with Native Americans In Philanthropy and W.K. Kellogg Foundation
There is an urgent public health crisis impacting Native American communities across the country that is largely being unaddressed by our public health and health care systems. Funders have an opportunity to play a transformative role in closing health equity gaps and fostering long-term improvements in Native American health outcomes. Participants joined this webinar for an in-depth briefing on the current health trends that drove the public health crisis in Indian Country and the critical health policy initiatives that shaped these trends. They gained valuable insights into the unique health needs and disparities within Native communities and came away with a greater understanding of the gaps and opportunities in Indian Country healthcare. The webinar also provided concrete action steps that funders could take at the local, regional, and national levels to support health equity and make meaningful, lasting impacts. Speakers included Caroline Brunton of W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Francys Crevier of National Council of Urban Indian Health, and Walter Murillo of Native Health in Phoenix, Arizona.
