All too often, discussions about Native American health begin and end with alarming statistics: disproportionate rates of chronic disease, shorter life expectancy, and high risk of suicide and substance abuse. Despite persistent health inequities, innovative efforts are underway throughout Indian country to promote wellness, preserve cultural healing traditions, and eliminate disparities. This webinar explored how foundations can foster meaningful partnerships with tribal communities and support strength-based approaches to improve the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives. Speakers included: Allison Barlow of the Center for American Indian Health, Stacy A. Bohlen of the National Indian Health Board, and Patricia Doykos of Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation.
